Michelle Short served as a Rural Education Development Volunteer in Zambia from 2006-2008. Her primary assignment was working with the Ministry of Education to train teachers and monitor and evaluate schools. While in Zambia she also served as a PCVL for her province. In 2011, Michelle served as a Peace Corps Response Volunteer in Liberia where she worked with the World Food Program to monitor and evaluate food distribution in schools and refugee camps. Michelle currently works at the English Learning Center, a school for adult immigrants and refugees, as a Volunteer Coordinator.
Michelle joined the MNRPCV Board in 2015 as Community Service Co-Chair. The community service committee organizes monthly volunteer opportunities for Minnesota RPCVs. These included highway clean ups, home repair projects, community garden maintenance, food shelf packing and distribution. In 2016, she is also serving as Vice President. Michelle appreciates the opportunity to give back to the broader Twin Cities community and Peace Corps through serving in these capacities.
