I am a newly sworn in Education PCV in Ethiopia. Last week, a month after arriving at our permanent site, I started a blog. My husband, Chad Miller, and I are serving in Ethiopia as Education PCVs. Our focus is on English Language Teacher Training. I am working with the local College of Teacher Education here in Debre Markos (Amhara Region). My background was primarily in the visual arts field (MFA Ceramics/Sculpture, University of Iowa), but I also have a strong interest in literacy and am completing the MA ESL program through Hamline University. Here is my blog.
I was born in the 1960s in South Dakota and have lived in many places since, including Tennessee, Iowa, Belgium, New Orleans, Minneapolis, and Portland, Oregon. I studied broadcasting and film at the University of Iowa and have taken courses in photography, writing, and web design. I also earned a TEFL certification after taking an intensive course at Hamline University in St. Paul. My professional work includes 15 years in educational assessment and, more recently, several years teaching English to speakers of other languages. I currently live with my wife in the East Gojam Zone of Ethiopia. I have many interests and pastimes, including bicycling, birding, and jazz. www.ethiomolen.wordpress.com/
