Eric Otto served as an agriculture volunteer in Ghana from 2012 to 2014. His primary
assignment was working with farming groups to promote conservation agriculture. Additionally, he assisted farming groups and women groups with a plethora of activities such as gardening, beekeeping, soap making, making solar dryers, and introducing the miracle tree (moringa) to the village. However, a good portion of his time was devoted to teaching integrated science at the junior high school in the village. Eric is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Minnesota studying plant pathology with an emphasis in forest pathology. In his free time, he can be found running long distances in the woods or fly fishing on pristine streams. |
